Take a Trolley Tour of Skalka Mystery-Series Sites

Join Write On, Door County and award-winning novelist Patricia Skalka for a memorable Door County experience: a Door County Trolley tour of sites in Skalka’s popular Dave Cubiak Door County Mystery Series. The tour will begin and end at Write On, Door County, 4210 Juddville Road in Juddville, and will conclude Write On’s first conference devoted to mystery. It’s scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 24, 9 am – 12 pm. 

The Dave Cubiak series pits a troubled former Chicago cop against a roster of clever killers on the Door peninsula. It began in 2014 with Death Stalks Door County, in which murders take place in Peninsula State Park. The sixth and most recent title is Death Washes Ashore. 

Skalka will be on the tour to read passages from the books and talk about the process of writing the mystery series and the importance of setting in her novels. Scheduled stops include Peninsula State Park, Gills Rock, Sister Bay and Baileys Harbor, all of which play a prominent role in the novels.

The cost for the trolley tour is $40 for those who are registered for the mystery conference and $55 for others. Spots are still open for the conference, and single-day registration is available. Presenters include National Book Award winner Pete Hautman, editor and publisher Dennis Lloyd, playwright Matt Zembrowski and novelists John DeDakis, Sandra Jackson-Opoku, Mary Logue, Mia Manansala, Marcie Rendon, Patricia Skalka and Bianca Sloane.
