Take in the Music on the Water

Rock the Boat

Nothing says summer like live music and a float on the bay. Put these two elements together and you’ve got the perfect way to enjoy an August afternoon. On Aug. 28, 12-2 pm, kayakers and paddleboard enthusiasts are invited to take to the waters of Sturgeon Bay for a floating concert. Feed the Dog, a high-energy, jam-rock-grass band based out of Appleton, Wisconsin, will perform live from a pontoon boat as event participants paddle along.

The event starts at the Crossroads at Big Creek kayak launch at The Cove Preserve, 817 S. 20th Place, Sturgeon Bay. The route will take paddlers along through the Big Creek estuary into Sturgeon Bay. Volunteers will be on hand to help with craft unloading and parking beginning at 11 am.

“We’re excited about this inaugural event,” said Adam Peronto, SnowKraft Nordic executive director and event organizer, “as far as we know, it’s Door County’s first kayak concert.”

All proceeds generated by the Kayak Concert will be donated to Crossroads at Big Creek and SnowKraft Nordic to be used to preserve the beauty and natural environment of Door County.

Pre-registration is required. For tickets and to make rental arrangements, visit kayakconcert.eventbrite.com.
