Take A Tour with National Geographic Mapmaker

A tour of the Grand Traverse Islands with Jim Dion of National Geographic Maps is planned for July 24. The tour is a fundraiser for the creation of a National Geographic Geotourism MapGuide for the Niagara Escarpment. The tour departs Gills Rock at 9 am on the Island Clipper. During the tour, learn about “The Great Arc Corridor” MapGuide project from Dion. The cruise will tour St. Martin, Poverty, Plum, Pilot Islands, with a stop at Rock Island. Onboard experts will share their knowledge of lighthouses, shipwrecks, geology and natural history of the area. There will also be live music, lunch, soft drinks, beer and wine.
