Talley’s Folly Opens July 20 at Peninsula Players

Peninsula Players Theatre will open its 86th season July 20 with Talley’s Folly by Lanford Wilson.

The play highlights one evening in the courtship of two unlikely lovers, portrayed by Sean and Linda Fortunato, who are Peninsula Players veteran actors and real-life husband and wife. This Pulitzer Prize-winning “midsummer valentine” is about finding love when you’ve stopped looking.

In Talley’s Folly, two lively, lovable people open up to each other in a no-holds-barred romantic waltz of a story set in Missouri on Independence Day 1944. Matt, a Jewish immigrant, meets Sally while on vacation from his accounting job. Her conservative family operates the garment factory that supports the town, but Sally remains an independent thinker with whom Matt falls in love instantly. He returns to her hometown to solve the puzzle that Sally has become and to ask for her hand in marriage.

Tickets must be purchased in advance; there will be no walk-up sales; and all parties will be socially distanced. The show will run Tuesdays – Saturdays, 8 pm; and Sundays, 2 pm. Visit peninsulaplayers.com to review the theater’s safety protocols and purchase tickets.
