Tanum Forest Church Hosts Healing from Loss Support Group

Bay View Lutheran Church and Tanum Forest Lutheran Church will host a Healing from Loss grief support group for men starting Feb. 5 and continuing every first Tuesday of the month. All men in the community are invited to hear from experts and others who are also walking a journey of grief. Attendees are welcome to share or just listen. Light refreshments will be served. There is no cost. The group is not church-based.

LouAnn Brown, parish nurse for Bay View Lutheran Church, started another grief support group, Surviving the Loss of a Spouse, which is in its fourth year and well attended.

“We noticed that men were generally uncomfortable with tears in a group of women,” Brown said. “Appleton has a very successful grief support group for men only, and we are eager to offer that option to our community as well. We needed to find a qualified facilitator, and we certainly have that with Pastor Peter Mannoja [of the Tanum Forest Lutheran Church] offering to lead the group.”  

Meetings will be held at the Tanum Forest Church, 6140 Cty Rd OO in Sturgeon Bay, on the second Tuesday of every month, 10-11 am, beginning Feb. 5. Registration is not necessary, but is appreciated. Call 920.743.2009 or 920.743.4705 to register.
