TAP ADDS CABARET SHOW, BOOK CLUB PLAY IS IN THE WORKS

To satisfy demand, Third Avenue Playworks (TAP) has added a third performance of An Evening of Stephen Sondheim – the first presentation in its Cabaret Series – on June 25, 7:30 pm.

This concert, which celebrates the work of the late composer/lyricist Stephen Sondheim, will be held at the SWY Gallery, 231 N. 3rd Ave. in Sturgeon Bay. Tickets ($25 each, or two for $40) are available at thirdavenueplayworks.org, by calling 920.743.1760 or at the door.

TAP is also deep in rehearsals for its next production, The Book Club Play by Karen Zacarías.

When a world-famous documentarian makes a book club the subject of his next film and the wine starts to flow, it’s not just the books that get discussed as the conversation strays from the literary to the personal. In the process, six young professionals learn that it’s best not to judge a book – or a person – by its cover.

The show is scheduled for June 26 – July 24, Wednesdays-Saturdays, 7:30 pm; and Sundays, 2 pm. A pay-what-you-will preview will be held June 26, 2 pm, with all proceeds going to TAP’s community partners, Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and the Door County Library.

Local book clubs are invited to hold their meetings at TAP prior to the show and will have early access to concessions. Inquire about dates, details and availability at thirdavenueplayworks.org.
