Tap Adds Hearing-Loop System to Renovated Theater

Third Avenue PlayWorks (TAP) will unveil its newly renovated theater with a production of Gutenberg! The Musical!, running Oct. 7-31, plus a pay-what-you-can preview performance on Oct. 6. This two-person musical spoof features a pair of aspiring playwrights performing a backers’ audition for their new project: a big, splashy musical about printing-press inventor Johann Gutenberg.

Thanks to grant assistance from the Door County Community Foundation and the Raibrook Foundation, TAP has installed a hearing loop: a type of sound system for use by people with hearing aids. The hearing loop provides a wireless, magnetic signal that a hearing aid picks up, and it cuts out background noise by sending the sound directly into a hearing aid (or headset for those without hearing aids). Those with compatible hearing aids simply switch their devices to the telecoil program and automatically receive clear, customized sound.

Purchase tickets – $35 for general admission and $20 for students – at thirdavenueplayworks.org; in person at TAP, 239 N. 3rd Ave. in Sturgeon Bay; or by phone at 920.743.1760.
