TAP Announces Pay-What-You-Can Show and Benefit Performance

Third Avenue Playhouse (TAP) will hold a pay-what-you-can preview for the upcoming production of Velvet Gentleman on May 17 at 7:30 pm. In lieu of a ticket, patrons are invited to view a preview of the world premiere performance of Velvet Gentleman, created and performed by TAP Co-Artistic Director James Valcq.

“These pay-what-you-can previews are some of my favorite nights here at TAP,” said Third Avenue Playhouse Co-Artistic Director Robert Boles. “It gives the opportunity to see our shows to people who otherwise wouldn’t be able to. It’s always a joy to see who joins us for these previews.”

The opening night performance of Velvet Gentleman on May 18 at 7:30 pm is a benefit performance for the Door County Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O.). A portion of ticket sales from the evening will go to the P.E.O., which provides scholarships and grants to students and nonprofit organizations in the Door County community.

“We love having the P.E.O. in the audience,” said Amy Ensign, TAP director of marketing and development. “They are such a responsive and supportive group. Plus, it feels really great to help promote and raise funds for such a worthy cause.”

P.E.O. was founded in 1869 in order to provide financial assistance to women whose education has been interrupted and who find it necessary to return to school to complete a degree or certification that improves their skills for employment.

Call 920.743.1760 to get tickets, and be sure to mention P.E.O.

Velvet Gentleman will be on stage from May 18 to June 4 with performances at 7:30 pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 2 pm on Sunday. Tickets are $28 general admission and $12 students. For more information visit thirdavenueplayhouse.com.
