TAP Gallery Features Amish Quilts

In conjunction with Third Avenue Playhouse’s current production of The Amish Project, the TAP Gallery presents an art exhibit highlighting the Amish tradition of quilt making.

The exhibit is provided by Jacksonport Craft Cottage Gifts, and will be on display during the run of the play, March 3 – 20. The Amish community creates quilts, rugs, and dolls for the functional value of the pieces. They don’t think of their work as art. The quilts and rugs keep them warm; the dolls teach their children about parenting. However, because of the admiration of the outside world, the Amish accept that others find the pieces worthy of collecting. The artists in the TAP lobby art gallery are from Pennsylvania, Ohio, Iowa, Indiana, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
