TAP Offers Theatre Workshops and Fundraising Gala

Third Avenue Playhouse’s (TAP) series of theatre workshops continues July 14 with workshops led by Amy Ensign (currently appearing in Door Shakespeare’s As You Like It) and Dan Klarer (currently appearing with American Folklore Theatre’s Victory Farm and Cheeseheads: The Musical).

From 10 am – noon, Story Theatre: Cinderella will be available for children in grades 2 – 6. While learning the basics of Story Theatre, participants will act out one of the irreverent versions of a familiar fairy tale from Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes. Parents will be able to see their child perform at the end of the workshop. The instructor will be Ensign.

Also on July 14 from 1 – 3 pm, Klarer will teach Stage Combat: Slaps and Punches. This workshop will instruct how to punch or slap someone or get punched yourself and never get hurt.

Each workshop is $20. Discounts are available for multiple visits.

Workshops will continue on Saturdays throughout July and August. Ensign and Klarer along with Doug Mancheski, Ryan Patrick Shaw and Seinfeld star Heidi Swedberg will lead workshops.

Also, TAP will host a fundraising gala on July 19 to celebrate the opening of its new 84-seat studio theatre and the opening night performance of the Stage Door Theatre Company’s new production, Souvenir.

The celebration begins with a trolley ride from TAP to the home of Barb and Jim Bunning, designed by the famous architect, Harry Weese. Live music, wine and refreshments will be served as guests meet TAP’s new directors, Robert Boles and James Valcq. A trolley ride back to TAP will take guests to the opening night performance of Souvenir.

After the play, there will be a post-show reception with dessert, coffee, and wine.

Tickets for this event are $100 per person. For reservations, call Celeste Munson at 920.743.3939.
