TAP Opens Season with Slow Food

Third Avenue PlayWorks (TAP) is opening its 2022 season with Slow Food, a comedy by Wendy MacLeod. TAP’s new artistic director, Jacob Janssen, will direct the cast of Alan Kopischke, Doug Mancheski and Claire Morkin.

When New York empty-nesters Irene (Morkin) and Peter (Kopischke) head to Palm Springs to celebrate a big anniversary, they’re envisioning a carefree trip full of rest and relaxation. Instead, they get stuck with a cargo van as their rental car, a nonfunctioning hot tub at the hotel and Stephen (Mancheski), a highly neurotic waiter at Dmitri’s Greek restaurant – the only establishment that seems to be open late on a Sunday evening. Will their shared desperation get them their spanakopita or end their marriage?

Slow Food will officially open May 12 after two preview performances. A pay-what-you-can preview will be held May 8, 2 pm, with a final preview on May 11, 7:30 pm. Donations from the pay-what-you-can preview will benefit Lakeshore CAP.

Performances will continue Wednesday-Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons through June 5. Learn more and purchase tickets ($35) at thirdavenueplayworks.org or at TAP’s box office, 239 N. 3rd Ave. in Sturgeon Bay.
