TAP Summer Season Ends on a Smooth Note

Pat Judy and fellow Big Mouth alum Woody Mankowski team up for an evening of unforgettable jazz on Friday, August 22 at Third Avenue Playhouse. Joining them on keyboard and trumpet is talented Green Bay jazz musician Rob McWilliams. One performance is scheduled for 7:30 pm.

An Ohio native, Pat Judy – known as PJ to his friends – has spent the last 20 years in Door County working and entertaining in a variety of settings. A percussionist by trade, he has performed in many local and regional musical groups including Big Mouth & the Power Tool Horns, The Amnesians and Mid-Life Crisis, as well as The Off-Center Jazz Band and numerous other jazz groups.

Born in St. Paul, Minnesota, Woody Mankowski has been performing professionally since the age of 12. He plays tenor, alto and soprano saxophone, as well as clarinet and flute and has worked in many recording studios as a commercial singer/instrumentalist. As a freelance musician, Woody has backed up popular artists such as The Temptations, The Four Tops, Aretha Franklin, James Ingram and Peabo Bryson. Locally, he leads a jazz quartet and frequently collaborates with other musicians in the Midwest including Big Mouth, Janet Planet and The New Breed.

Dr. Rob McWilliams, an internationally accomplished musician, conductor, and educator, was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia. A United States resident since 1991, McWilliams holds a Ph.D. in Music Education from the University of Minnesota, a Master’s degree in Instrumental Conducting from Florida State University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Melbourne. McWilliams also has extensive experience as a performer on trumpet and keyboard and has performed with a number of domestic and international symphonic ensembles and jazz groups.

Tickets for PJ, Woody & Friends are $12 for adults, $10 for seniors and students and $7 for children under 12. Tickets are on sale at the theater box office, 239 North Third Avenue, Sturgeon Bay, 920.743.1760. Box office hours are 10 am – 3 pm Monday through Friday and one hour prior to performances.
