TAP Takes it Back to College

Opening July 9 is the first play of the 2015 summer/fall season for Third Avenue Playhouse’s (TAP) Stage Door Theatre Company – Educating Rita.

In this play, directed by Robert Boles, Rita, a brash, young hairdresser with a free spirit, is hungry to improve her lot in life. When she enrolls at the local university, she discovers a passion for literature and turns her boozy and burnt-out professor’s life upside down in this award-winning comedy. Katherine Duffy will play Rita and Dave Brhel returns to the TAP stage as the professor.

A portion of the opening night ticket sales will be donated to P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization). P.E.O. celebrates the advancement of women by educating women through scholarships, grants, awards, loans and the stewardship of Cottey College. For more information visit peointernational.org.

Performances will be held July 9 – 25 at 7:30 pm Wednesdays through Saturdays, and 2 pm Sundays. A “pay what you can” preview will be held July 8 at 7:30 pm. A special Tuesday evening performance is set for July 21. Tickets are $25 general admission and $10 students. For more information visit thirdavenueplayhouse.com.
