Tap To Share The Kissing Girl, A Restoration In Progress

Third Avenue Playhouse (TAP) will continue its online play-reading series, PlayWorks, with The Kissing Girl on April 16, 7 pm.

At the dawn of the 20th century, the Midwest had a thriving musical-theater scene centered in Chicago, featuring works created for Midwest audiences. James Valcq is dusting off 1908’s The Kissing Girl, a “comedy operetta” that had its world premiere in Madison before opening for a long run at Chicago’s Cort Theatre.

A full cast will read through the current draft of the script and perform a few of the musical numbers as well. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated. Registration is required. A live talkback with the cast and director will follow the reading. To find out more and register, visit
