TAP Workshop Seeks Participants

Third Avenue Playhouse (TAP) is looking for adults and students from middle and high school for Right to Live, a workshop created and directed by Habibah Sheikh. Rehearsals begin mid-January 2019 with performances March 1–3, 2019.

Guest artist Sheikh will present a multi-week voice, movement and performance workshop centered on the real narratives from refugee and diaspora communities of Middle Eastern origin. Workshop participants will create an original play based on the workshop sessions that will be performed for the public.

All workshop participants will volunteer their time. No auditions are required, and there are no fees to participate. All skill levels are welcome. No prior stage experience is necessary.

The workshop rehearsal schedule will be set once all participants are in place. Anticipate meeting several days a week, depending on the availability of workshop participants.

Sheikh has a nomadic existence, gathering inspiration for her storytelling art from a number of communities of displaced peoples. She is devoted to vocal interpretation, acting and poetic text.

Right To Live will be presented alongside an exhibit at the Miller Art Museum titled Arab World. The exhibit will feature site-specific installations, poetry, performance and visual art pieces.

Anyone interested in participating in the workshop may call the TAP office at 920.743.1760.
