TAP’s ‘The Dig’ Opens June 27

The cast of The Dig began rehearsals on June 11 at Third Avenue Playhouse in Sturgeon Bay. Written by Wisconsin playwright Marie Kohler and directed by Alexander Coddington, The Dig will run June 27 through July 20. Kohler will be in residence for the production.

The semi-biographical play tells the story of Mattie and her older brother, Jamie. During an archeological dig in Lebanon in 1968, Jamie had a psychological breakdown, transforming him forever. Thirty years later, an international inquiry compels Mattie to investigate the provenance of an ancient pot from her brother’s past. Moving between layers of the 1950s, ’60s and ’90s, The Dig dramatizes Mattie’s belated realization of her loss – and acceptance of who her brother has become.

The Dig features Karen Moeller as Mattie, Peter Reeves as Jamie, Christopher Sheard as young Jamie, Eva Nimmer as Dr. Caldwell and William Bolz as Tom.

A special pay-what-you-can performance will be held June 26, 7:30 pm. Tickets are $30 for general admission and $12 for students. To learn more and purchase tickets, visit thirdavenueplayhouse.com.
