Taxidermist at Door County Historical Museum

Master taxidermist Mike Orthober visits the Door County Historical Museum on July 14, 10 am – 4 pm. Orthober designed and built the museum’s nature diorama. He will mount a new bird for the exhibit and talk about the art and science of taxidermy.

Orthober, of Egg Harbor, is well known in the taxidermy field, having won many national and world-wide awards, among them “Best in World” for warm-water fish and “Second in World” for a non-game bird. He also judges World Taxidermy Championships and teaches his methods to aspiring taxidermists.

Orthober will have one more demonstration later this summer, on Aug. 4. The museum is located at 4th and Michigan, and is open daily from 10 am to 4:30 pm. For more information call 920.743.5809 or email [email protected].
