Techno/Industrial Music Influences Artist’s Abstracts

Abstract by g42 artist Tim Nyberg.

On Sunday, July 18 from 1 – 3 pm, g42 (Gallery 42) will crank up the volume on some pretty bizarre music as gallery owner and artist Tim Nyberg demonstrates how electronic music influences his creation of abstracts.

“I love the oddities and raw emotion in this music,” Nyberg explained. “The fact that there are seldom meaningful lyrics that get in the way – creating specific imagery – really helps me to paint what I hear in the music. I follow the color of the notes, the shapes of the phrasing. The finished pieces should visually reflect the feelings that you derive from the music.”

Nyberg will talk about his process and answer questions as he paints to music from Yello, Aphex Twin, Kraftwerk, Moby, St. Germaine and Manitowoc’s Greg Pagel.

Admission to the art and music jams is free. g42 is located in the Fairfield Building in Sturgeon Bay at the corner of 3rd Avenue and Michigan Street.
