Tenley Koehler Awarded FCS Rookie of the Year

The Wisconsin Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (WEAFCS) awarded Tenley Koehler, Door County Family Living Educator, as this year’s winner of the WEAFCS Marley Richert Rookie of the Year Award. This award is presented to an individual who has shown leadership, contributions and efforts of innovative and dynamic programming in Family Living.

Koehler created and disseminated the Door County Family Wellbeing Survey in collaboration with local colleagues and families. The results reinforced interest in the “Raising a Thinking Child” and the “I Can Problem Solve” curriculum, leading 30 teachers/providers to be trained in partnership with the Center for Safe Schools. Consequently, Sturgeon Bay’s public school became the first in the state to implement the “I Can Problem Solve” program.
