Life-long learning opportunities will be offered at Björklunden in 2016 with a variety of engaging and thought-provoking seminars.
Terry Moran, a 1982 Lawrence graduate and chief foreign correspondent for ABC News, and Dale Duesing, a 1967 Lawrence graduate and award-winning, world-renowned opera singer and actor, headline the list of featured instructors for the 2016 Björklunden summer seminar series sponsored by Lawrence University.
Other 2016 Björklunden summer seminar presenters include Douglas Waller, author, former correspondent for Newsweek and Time; Liz (Megan) Cole ’63, professional actor and communicator; and Jon Greenwald, vice president of the International Crisis Group with 30 years in the U.S. Foreign Service.
Registrations are currently being accepted for all 33 adult, weeklong, non-credit seminars that begin June 12, 2016. The seminars are conducted at the pristine 425-acre Björklunden estate on the shore of Lake Michigan outside Baileys Harbor. Seminar topics for 2016 range from opera, watercolor and Russian history to classic film studies, medieval art and baseball.
Participants can attend seminars either as residents, staying at the Björklunden lodge, or as commuters. All seminars include meals prepared by Björklunden’s resident chef and each seminar begins with Sunday evening dinner. Classes meet weekday mornings and some evenings with remaining free time available to explore Door County’s cultural and recreational opportunities or for simple relaxation at Björklunden.
