Test Your Pesto

The Door County Master Gardener volunteers are looking for the most inventive and tastiest pesto recipe. During a “Pesto Festo” as part of The Taste of the Garden Door on Sept. 6, pesto entries are taste tested by a panel of judges. The judges will determine the first, second and third place winners, with an additional award for the most creative pesto. After the judges deliberate, all those attending can vote for their favorite pesto, which earns the winner the title of The People’s Choice and is awarded The Pesto Bowl. All recipes will be available online at dcmga.org.

Deliver pesto entries, at least three cups in a disposable container, to the educational classroom at the UW Peninsular Agricultural Research Station, 4312 Hwy 42, between 9 and 10:45 am on Sept. 6, the day of Taste of the Garden Door. Each submission must come with a recipe, title, how the pesto might be used, and contact information so the winners may be honored. For more information call Char Rowe at 920.743.5771 or Barbara & Doug Henderson at 920.743.9026.

Pesto Festo takes place on Sept. 6, 1 – 3:30 pm, as part of Taste of the Garden Door, which is held until 4 pm. The program is free and open to the public.
