“The Addams Family” Onstage at Southern Door

Southern Door High School will present The Addams Family: A New Musical in November. Promising campiness, spooky fun, macabre hilarity and plenty of heart, this production comprises more than 50 high school students in the cast, crew and pit orchestra.

The comical feast embraces the wackiness in every family and showcases a particular Addams Family nightmare: Wednesday, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family whom her parents have never met. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night when they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.

Featured are Hunter Malvitz and Zachery Rhoades, double-cast as Gomez Addams; Maryann Alrand and Ellie Engerson, double-cast as Morticia Addams; Abi Tooley as Wednesday; Noah Rass as Wednesday’s boyfriend, Lucas Beineke; Gary Barta as Uncle Fester; Molly Hall as Pugsley; Branden Neubauer as Lucas’ father, Mal; Mikayla Pieschek as Lucas’s mother, Alice; Jenna Barnaby as Grandma; and Grant Pieschek as Lurch. A host of reanimated ancestors serve as the musical’s ensemble and chorus.

Performances will be held Nov. 4-5 and Nov. 10-11, 7 pm; Nov. 6, 2 pm; and Nov. 12, 1 pm. The Nov. 4 and 11 shows may be rescheduled depending on the Southern Door football playoffs. Purchase tickets ($11 for adults, $10 for seniors and $7 for students) at southerndoorauditorium.org.
