Hometown:  Born in Manhattan, grew up in Albuquerque

Intro to music:  McFadden’s mom sang, and dad played guitar. “He showed me a couple of songs by the Beatles, Led Zeppelin etc. and that was the beginning. I started playing in bar and party bands when I was around 14 years old.”

Sounds like:  “Carny-rock, gypsy, voodoo blues, Americana, funkabilly, gothic-folk artist.”

Influences:  “A few:  The Beatles, Tom Waits, Led Zeppelin, PJ Harvey, James Hall, Stones, Stooges, Paco DeLucia, Django Reinhardt, Jimi Hendrix, Bob Dylan, John Lee Hooker, pat mAcdonald, Funkadelic, Hank Williams, Vic Chesnutt, Black Sabbath, Nick Cave, Carla Bozulich, Willie Nelson, The Clash, Pixies, Beehtoven and Sly Stone.”

Why Steel Bridge? Originally invited by close friend and collaborator pat mAcdonald, “I said yes and it turned out to be one of the most memorable times of my life. I have been back every year since and it continues to be an inspiring and life-changing experience. I have met many amazing and talented people and built lasting friendships through the festival. It also serves to help save a historic landmark in Sturgeon Bay.”

Summer plans:  McFadden’s staying busy. After Steel Bridge, McFadden heads to Spain for three weeks of shows in and around Barcelona before returning stateside to tour the Northwest, Southwest and East Coast. He’s wrapping up a new album and shooting a movie with pat mAcdonald, Unraveling the Myth of the Legendary Sons of Crack Daniels, as well.
