The Assemblage of Judy Anderson featured at The Flying Pig Gallery

‘Her Dilemma” by Judy Anderson.

Judy Anderson transforms the most mundane of materials into sculpture. Working with discarded mechanical, electrical, and metal parts, she repurposes these objects into an entirely unique form. Her work will be on display in the Back Gallery at the Flying Pig Gallery in Algoma from July 10 to August 8.

Anderson’s work has evolved from naturalistic two-dimensional character portraiture to nonobjective collage and assemblage. “While abandoning direct figurative work I continue to explore the human condition using ordinary and special objects that we take for granted or venerate, then discard,” said Anderson. A desire for more dimension in her work caused Anderson to begin adding small metal or plastic parts to build up her multi-layered surfaces, often times making the piece appear functioning mechanically within the piece.

Anderson’s work has been exhibited in galleries and shows throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota.

The Flying Pig Gallery and Greenspace is open 9 am – 6 pm daily and is located at N6975 State Highway 42, Algoma. For more information call 920.487.9902 or visit http://theflyingpig.biz/.
