Local Butte des Morts author Harold William Thorpe has just released the fourth book in “A Good Friends Storybook” series. Bellamy’s Ball is a tale about two friends, Bellamy and Katie. Bellamy is excited for the upcoming Girl Scouts ball at the Butte des Morts Lions Club Hall. It will be a dance for fathers and daughters. Katie is sad because she can’t dance from her wheelchair.
Bellamy, with help from her cousin, Aubrey, comes up with a plan to get Katie dancing. Discover Bellamy’s surprise that will make the ball special for Katie and the other Girl Scouts. Children will love the beautiful hand-drawn illustrations that bring the story to life.
Thorpe began his career teaching grade school children in Janesville, Wisconsin. Although he later taught middle school and college students, those grade school years were the most fulfilling and happiest of his professional life.
Thorpe currently lives in Butte des Morts and has a home in Door County. He will be a featured author at Write On, Door County’s open house on June 12.
