The Big Bands are Back!

Classic big band music returns to Birch Creek Music Performance Center Wednesdays through Saturdays, July 21 through August 14.

Musicians from New York to Las Vegas and places in between join the Birch Creek Academy Band for one of their favorite gigs: concerts in the historic Dutton Barn just outside Egg Harbor.

Jeff Campbell returns to Birch Creek for his 22nd season, recruiting the world-class professionals who teach and perform at Birch Creek.

On Friday, July 23 a section of the barn will be cleared for concertgoers to dance to their favorite hits from the big bands of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, and Glenn Miller. “The Big Bands Are Back” on Saturday, July 24 features the Academy Band performing music selected from the works of jazz greats such Artie Shaw, Frank Foster, and Bennie Moten.

The second week of big band jazz concerts will feature “Jazz & The Great American Big Band” on July 28 and 31, and “Big Bands Play the American Popular Song” on July 29 and 30. All concerts begin at 8 pm.

General admission is $29 for adults, $10 for students, and $6 for children.

Purchase tickets by calling 920.868.3763 or visiting the Birch Creek campus, located 3 miles east of Egg Harbor on County E. Regular office hours are 9 am – 6 pm weekdays with extended hours on concert nights.

The box office outside the concert barn opens at 7 pm on concert nights, with pre-concert music in the campus gazebo at 7:30 p.m. A picnic grove with tables is available for carry-in picnics. For more information, visit http://www.birchcreek.org.
