The Clearing Folk School will host an Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Social on July 20. The event will take place from 7 – 9 pm at the Jens Jensen Visitor Center, located at 12171 Garrett Bay Road, Ellison Bay. The ice cream social is free and open to the public. The public is welcome to enjoy a cool treat with all the fixings on a warm summer evening! The evening will glow with a candlelit path leading to the Buchholz Council Ring bonfire. Attendees will also have the opportunity to browse The Clearing Bookstore and Gift Shop.
The Clearing has openings in some of its 2011 Workshop Program classes. These one- and two-day classes in the arts, humanities and natural sciences include: “Graphite with a Message” with multi-media artist Rhonda Nass on July 21 and 22, “Door County Butterflies” with entomologist Dr. Richard Smythe on July 29, “The Art of Friction: Fiction Writing” with Dr. Gary Jones on August 2, “YogaWrite: Awake, Develop, Connect” with novelist John Lehman and certified yoga instructor Vandana Dillon on August 5 and 6, “A Little Peace of My Heart: The New Science of Self-Acceptance” with Dr. Frederick “Doc” Heide on August 12, “Building A Beautiful Garden” with nationally-syndicated horticulturist and PBS’s Melinda Myers on September 27.
