The Clearing Folk School of Door County Releases Summer and Fall Workshop Schedule

The Clearing Folk School’s summer and fall one-, two- and three-day Workshop Program class schedule is now available. Classes will begin June 6 and include writing with Wisconsin author Jerry Apps and Wisconsin’s first Poet Laureate Ellen Kort. Door County favorite Dr. Frederick “Doc” Heide will explore the concept of self-acceptance and Dr. Roger Kuhns will decipher the geologic history of the Niagara Escarpment.

The folk school also offers opportunities for students to learn to paint with pastel, acrylics or watercolor, explore gourd art, learn to draw with pencil and graphite, fuse glass, discover Door County’s butterflies, fine-tune photography skills, “paint” landscapes with fabric, play with the paper arts, create bonsai living tree sculptures, and garden with nationally syndicated television and radio gardening expert Melinda Myers.

The Clearing is located at 12171 Garrett Bay Road in Ellison Bay. For more information about this year’s 38 Workshop classes or to register, call 920.854.4088 between 8 am and 4 pm Monday through Friday, or visit http://www.theclearing.org.
