The history, folklore and landscape of The Clearing Folk School will be the subject of free interpretive hiking tours of its historic buildings and campus, led by volunteer docents. The two-hour hiking tours will begin at 1 pm on select Saturdays and Sundays starting Sunday, May 29 and running through October. Participants are asked to meet at The Clearing’s Jens Jensen Visitor Center, located at 12171 Garrett Bay Road, Ellison Bay, where maps are also available. The terrain is rugged in places, and sturdy walking shoes are recommended.
Docent-led hike schedule: Sunday, May 29; Saturday & Sunday, June 4 & 5; Saturday & Sunday, June 11 & 12; Saturday, June 18; Sunday, June 26; Saturday, July 2; Saturday & Sunday, July 9 & 10; Saturday & Sunday, July 16 & 17; Saturday & Sunday, July 23 & 24; Sunday, July 31. August through October dates will be announced in July
In addition, the campus is open to the public every Saturday and Sunday (May-October) from 12 – 4 pm. Visitors are welcomed to the Jens Jensen Visitor Center Monday through Friday from 8 am – 4 pm and Saturday – Sunday from 12 – 4 pm.
