The Clearing Welcomes Winter

The Clearing is once again going to be very busy this winter with 90 classes offered in the annual two-month long winter program, their holiday open house and the “Welcoming Winter Gathering.”

A wine and cheese “Welcoming Winter Gathering” will be held Dec. 5 from 3-6 pm at the Jens Jensen Visitor Center. Enjoy some fine wines, specialty cheeses, holiday sweets and the camaraderie with fellow Clearing friends, old and new. Tickets are $30 per person, reservations required by Dec. 2.

The Holiday Open House, scheduled for Dec. 11-12 from 10 am – 4 pm, is the perfect time to register for winter program classes. Or just come and enjoy homemade mulled apple cider, treats, a crackling fire, and the indoor Christmas forest. Plus, $5 raffle tickets are available for prizes that include a free week of lodging, meals and tuition for a 2015 Summer Resident class, a two-day 2015 Workshop class, or a $75 gift certificate to The Clearing’s bookstore and gift shop.

Registration is open now for the winter program classes, running Jan. 5 – Feb. 27. Adult daytime classes are being offered in the arts, fine crafts, natural sciences and humanities, including some half-day and one-day classes. Students will have the opportunity to exhibit their in-progress and completed work during the Winter Program Student Exhibit, scheduled for Feb. 28 and March 1, 2015, at The Clearing’s Jens Jensen Visitor Center.

Winter program classes are published online at theclearing.org and catalogs are available at the The Clearing’s Jens Jensen Visitor Center during business hours of Monday-Friday from 8 am – 4 pm, except Nov. 27-28. Registrations are accepted online, in person or through the mail prior to the “lottery” deadline date of Dec. 17. After Dec. 17, phone registration is also available and classes will be filled on a first come, first registered basis, as space permits.
