The Community’s Garden Hosts an “Old Fashioned Picnic”

The Community’s Garden is hosting their annual fundraiser, an “Old Fashioned Picnic,” on Aug. 22 from 4 – 8 pm. The event takes place at the garden located on 16th Place, between Michigan Street and Rhode Island in Sturgeon Bay.
Admission is free, but tickets for locally grown food items cost $1. Menu items include Waseda Farms beef, pulled pork sandwiches, peanut butter and jelly, watermelon, tomato and cheese kabobs, grilled vegetables and molasses cookies.
This family-friendly picnic also features games for children like three-legged sack races, musical chairs, egg and spoon races, and beanbag toss.
Demonstrations of butter churning, herb sachet making and knot tying will be held throughout the evening. Guests can purchase tickets and participate in a raffle with prizes donated from local businesses.
Guests are also welcome to tour the 48 garden plots cultivated by residents and agencies in Door County and the fruit tree orchard. Gardeners, volunteers and board members will be on site to answer questions and provide an overview of The Community’s Garden mission.
