The Door Community Auditorium of Door County Presents Windham Hill

Windham Hill, an independent world music label, will present “Winter Solstice” at The Door Community Auditorium, featuring four international performers. Taking the stage on Saturday, December 20 at 8 pm, pianist Liz Story, Grammy nominee Barbara Higbie, flutist Samite, and guitarist Sean Harkness will warm the auditorium with the sounds of the season.

A native of California, Liz Story has been applauded for her talent on the piano by People Magazine who stated that, “Rhythmically and melodically, there is a wonderful ebb and flow to her compositions.” Samite, a native of Africa, has also been praised for his talent as a flutist. The Los Angeles Times stated that Samite’s “melodies […] create a soothing, almost lullaby-like effect.”

In addition, guitarist Sean Harkness, a solo Windham Hill artist, credits include the Broadway production of The Lion King, tours in Japan, and multiple compilations. Sharing the stage with some of the most talented musicians in the industry, Harkness has performed and recorded with Tuck & Patti, Will Ackerman, Michael Manning, Bobby Sherman, and renowned folk singer Odetta.

Finally, grammy-nominated singer/songwriter, pianist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist, Barbara Higbie will round out the performers. A member of the Windham Hill family of musicians since 1982, Higbie has 11 recordings to her credit, as well as contributions to 10 compilations.
