The Eclipse Gallery Hosts the Dream Rocket Project

The purpose of the Dream Rocket Project, organized by Jennifer Marsh, founder of the International Fiber Collaborative, is to connect art and education through a large-scale, collaborative art project.

The not-for-profit organization has gathered participants from individuals, schools, and groups all over the world, each inspired by the question, “What is Your Dream for a Better Tomorrow?” Each participant has created an art quilt panel, all of which will be sewn together and then wrapped onto the Saturn V Rocket in Huntsville, Alabama in early 2011.

“The wrapping of the Saturn V Rocket will consist of over 8,000 fabric and mixed media panels representing dreams for our future and visionaries from the past,” said Marsh. The Eclipse Gallery in Algoma will have 50 Dream Rocket panels on display for the month of October. These panels are part of a nationwide tour to promote the project and get others involved.

The gallery has also sponsored a panel for visitors to work on throughout the exhibition, open to all ages, which will then be sewn together with the other panels and wrapped on the Saturn V Rocket.
