The Filling Station at Husby’s Opens Serving Frozen Cocktails

Next door to Husby’s Garage, you’ll now find the Filling Station, a frozen-drink bar with an attached open-air lounge area and front patio with bar seating. Its name is a nod to the history of the building, which was once a Standard Service gasoline filling station before becoming an ice cream shop for the last couple of decades.

Husby’s owners purchased the building and expanded the areas to the north, making space for the lounge and patio area. The auto theme was carried out throughout the space, with glass garage doors on three sides of the lounge area and two antique gas pumps at the front entrance.

Guests can order frozen drinks from the six flavor options, which will be rotated occasionally: four alcoholic flavors, including the classic margarita, piña colada and strawberry daiquiri; and two nonalcoholic flavors. On opening day, in addition to the classics, there was a mango margarita as well as nonalcoholic raspberry lemonade and nonalcoholic wildberry freeze. With any flavor, you have the option to add a “floater”: an additional topping of booze.

Although there are no food options onsite, co-owner James Larsen said, “People are welcome to bring in takeout food. We have plenty of seating and places to spread out. John Sawyer and TK Construction did an excellent job designing the space.”

The Filling Station’s hours are currently 12-11 pm, and sometimes later on weekends.
