The Gallery at Domicile Introduces Joe Kiefer

New to the Gallery at Domicile this season is Wisconsin artist Joe Kiefer. The 31-year-old painter was raised in the small town of Glidden, Wis., and his goal is to capture the essence of landscapes with paint.

Kiefer learned to appreciate nature through his father, a logger, and having spent most of his youth fishing, hunting, and exploring forests.

Kiefer began his education in the field of Wildlife Biology at the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. The desire to make art became too overwhelming and Kiefer pursued a career in art. He transferred to UW – Madison and graduated in 2002 with an Art Education degree.

While living in Madison, Kiefer learned traditional techniques of painting and drawing from Madison Area Technical College instructors Chris Gargan and John Ribble.

Kiefer’s work can be seen at the Gallery at Domicile, located on Highway 57 in Sister Bay. Gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 10 am – 5 pm, and Sunday from 11 am – 4 pm. For more information call 920.854.9005.
