The Door County Community Foundation, Inc. has awarded a sustainability grant to Neighbor to Neighbor Volunteer Caregivers to support their Medical Equipment Loan Program through the purchase of four-wheeled walkers with seats and equipment labeling.

Neighbor to Neighbor is a local nonprofit organization that provides peer companions for homebound elderly or disabled individuals, respite care for primary caregivers, short-term medical equipment loans for people of all ages, and the Lemonade Club, a cancer survivor support group. All services are provided free of charge. In 2013, 1,230 individuals were served by Neighbor to Neighbor, saving these individuals more than $400,000 in medical expenses through the use of these programs.

Neighbor to Neighbor is also seeking donations of gently used or new four-wheeled walkers with seats, wheelchairs and transport chairs from the community for use within the medical equipment loan program. For more information or to donate any of these needed items, call 920.743.7800.
