“The House of Blue Leaves” Begins Run at TAP

Stage Door Theatre Company began their run of The House of Blue Leaves on Aug. 21 at Third Avenue Playhouse. The play, running through Sept. 13, was written by John Guare and directed by Ryan Schabach.

The cast includes: Debra Babich, Robert Boles, Amy Ensign, Kay Allmand, Mark Moede, Anne St. Henry, Edward DiMaio, Michaela Kraft, Chris Milton, Ryan Patrick Shaw and Isaiah Spetz. Included in the cast are two students who have participated in TAP’s StageKids program: Isaiah Spetz, a Sevastopol student, and Michaela Kraft, a Southern Door student.

This play tells the story of a zookeeper who dreams of being a successful songwriter. The House of Blue Leaves has been staged worldwide since its New York premiere in 1971, and has had two Broadway revivals, most recently in 2011 with Ben Stiller and Edie Falco.

Through Sept. 1, performances will be held Wednesday through Sunday at 7:30 pm with an additional Sunday performance at 2 pm. From Sept. 4 – 13, performances will be held Wednesday through Saturday at 7:30 as well as Saturday and Sunday at 2 pm.
