The Mountains of Door County

We are forever impressed at the vast knowledge, patience and enthusiasm of our team of Information Specialists. They love a good challenge but, as we’re sure you know all too well, they are often asked the same battery of questions over and over again – and yet, they sincerely answer each one as if it was the first time it was being asked. And then, there are the funny questions – the ones that catch them off guard – here are 10 examples that immediately came to mind…

1. Can I see the cherry blossoms and pick cherries at the same time?

2. Are there mountains in Door County?

3. Endless questions about where the fall leaves are located (And, they want an actual address) and exactly what color they are now… “I want to see only orange and red!”

4. I am just here for the day and want to hike Peninsula Park and go to Washington Island. (Unfortunately, it was 4 in the afternoon when they asked).

5. I am making a soup mix for my relatives for Christmas gifts and I ran out of onion flakes. How much onion powder do I substitute for 2 tablespoons of flakes in my mix? (1 teaspoon onion powder = 1 tablespoon dried onion flakes or 1 teaspoon onion powder = 1/3 cup chopped onion)

6. Lots of questions about Sturgis Bay, Fish Harbor and Egg Creek.

7. I am on the Ahnapee Trail heading to Sturgeon Bay and I am wondering where I can “park my horse?”

8. “Do I need to know how to swim in order to go scuba diving?”

9. I want to go on a hot air balloon ride over the peninsula. Where can I do that? A.) That is not available here. Q.) Why not? A.) You would have to drift to Michigan to land…

10. I stayed at a place in Ephraim – it was white and I’m wondering if you might know the name of it?
