The Nostalgia of Skee-Ball, Pinball, and Sega

It takes a moment for your eyes to adjust to the galaxy-themed carpet and walls of the Egg Harbor Fun Park’s arcade – complete with neon shooting stars and the glowing rings of Saturn. The beeps and rings and short melodies of the brilliantly lit array of games encompass this space of fun – a perfect spot for a rainy day.

Once those shiny game tokens jingle in your palm, you’re ready! Where to begin?

For the toddlers amongst you, there is the classic pony carousel, a red helicopter to steer, and games that require just the push of a button.

For the more advanced of the arcade players, there are a series of games to test your timing and hand-eye coordination such as an Egyptian-themed game featuring a tower of pyramids. Can you stop the light at the tippy-top of the ancient structure? Not me! There is also the somewhat terrifying Hungry Dragon. Can you pop the coin in his mouth? Success! And what arcade would be complete without a pinball machine?

For the twenty and thirty-somethings amongst you, the arcade features the awesomely fun Motor Raid – a motorcycle racing and combat game Sega released in the late ‘90s. Climb aboard the motorcycle and lean left and right as you navigate tracks, kicking away opponents or destroying their chances of victory with a sword that looks like it’s straight out of Star Wars. (A personal favorite!)

For the old-school gamers amongst you, the arcade offers a classic row of skee-ball. With a simple concept – roll the ball up the incline and (hopefully) score a large amount of points – a line-up of all ages can take to the lanes simultaneously and see who amongst them can score the most points.

When the tokens are spent, gather your neon tickets and check out the prize counter featuring assorted candies, dolls, rubber snakes, plastic rings, and more – something for everyone!

The Egg Harbor Fun Park also features a snack bar offering pizza and ice cream, kiddie rides, an 18-hole miniature golf course, go karts, trampoline basketball, and a paint ball target range.

Open 10 am – 10 pm daily, the park is located at 7340 Highway 42, south of Egg Harbor. For more information call 920.868.9417 or visit http://www.eggharborfunpark.com.
