The Peninsula Pulse is Hiring: General Assignment Reporter/ Multimedia Content Creator

The Peninsula Pulse newspaper seeks a dynamic, motivated individual to join our team to produce content for print, web, video and podcasts.

Job Summary:  The right candidate will report on local news, business and community beats as well as write features, appear on podcasts, and produce news video. The position will also serve as the events reporter for the area’s premier community and entertainment calendar and assist in a variety of newsroom functions.

Qualified applicants must have great writing, reporting and interviewing skills, be energized by news and the people behind the news, and be willing to take on a challenge every day. An entrepreneurial mindset, ability to hit deadlines, and the ability to work independently and with a team are also required. Position requires some night and weekend hours.

The Peninsula Pulse is a growing, locally-owned newspaper covering the Door County peninsula.

Full-time, year round.  

Compensation commensurate with experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Reporting/ Writing
  • News reporting including local government, business, and community coverage
  • Entertainment, human interest and other features
  • Assist in production of the Door County Pulse Podcast and news video
  • Contribute to Door County Living magazine

• Events Reporting: 
  • Curate events for the Peninsula Pulse events calendar, the leading resource for what’s happening in Door County
  • Maintain print and digital calendar 
  • Mine calendar for story and profile ideas

• Digital Media Assistant: 
  • Assist in executing digital strategy for the companies of Peninsula Publishing & Distribution including but not limited to:
    • Social Media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat)
    • Email (Pulse Picks newsletter, niche newsletters)
    • Upload and optimize articles for DoorCountyPulse.com
  • Assist in preparing content for print and digital

COMPENSATION

• Based on experience
• Full-time, year round position (approximately 40 hours/week on average during the season). 
• Vacation: 10 pvacation/ personal days per year plus 8 paid holidays
