“The Price of Sand” Screened at UUF

The Price of Sand will be shown at the UU Fellowship on Jan. 21 at 4:30 pm. Admission is free and the screening will be followed by a discussion.

The documentary tells of the frac sand mining boom in Minnesota and Wisconsin. New companies have arrived and land with accessible silica deposits is selling for high prices. In addition to a bonanza for a few lucky landowners, the new mines promise jobs and economic stimulus for the small towns and rural areas nearby…but at what cost?

The film is part of the monthly Movies That Matter series; a list of the movies scheduled for the first six months of 2014 is available at the UU Fellowship, 10341 Highway 42 in north Ephraim. For further information call 920.854.7559.
