The Pulse Announces Photography Judges

The Pulse is thrilled to announce that the photography portion of the 2010 Hal Grutzmacher Writers’ Exposé and Photography Jubilee will be judged by a panel of Door County photographers, including Dan Eggert, Dan Anderson, and Kelly Avenson.

In previous years, the Pulse staff – from interns to owners – has judged the photo contest; however, the decision was made to bring in the experts to select this year’s most notable entries to be printed in the special August 6 issue of the Pulse.

Dan Eggert, currently the Photo Editor of the Peninsula Pulse and the Photography Director of Door County Living, is a freelance photographer working with clients ranging from local Door County businesses to artists and musicians, and he’s been known to shoot an occasional wedding now and then. For more information visit http://www.daneggert.com.

Dan Anderson’s photography has been exhibited throughout the United States and Europe in public and private collections. Anderson is also an active teacher of photography and has participated in numerous workshops. Anderson has a gallery and studio in his home in Ellison Bay. For more information visit http://www.danielandersonphotography.com.

Kelly Avenson has a studio in downtown Sturgeon Bay, and she specializes in commercial, event and portrait photography. For more information, visit http://www.kellyavenson.com.

Individuals interested in submitting photos for the contest may submit up to three photos, as prints only, by Friday, July 9. Submissions should be between 4″x6″ and 8″x12″, and the photographs can be mailed to Peninsula Pulse, c/o Contest Entries, P.O. Box 694, Baileys Harbor, WI, 54202 or dropped off at the Pulse office, located at 8142 Highway 57, Baileys Harbor. Photographs should be accompanied by a cover letter, including the photographer’s name, mailing address, phone number, email, and a 25 – 50 word biography. Also, because the Pulse employs a blind judging process, the entrant’s name should not appear on the actual piece of work. Photos will not be returned.
