The Ridges Celebrates the Great Backyard Bird Count

If you plan to participate in this year’s Great Backyard Bird Count, Feb. 12 – 15, The Ridges invites people to share stories over snacks and hot chocolate at the Great Backyard Bird Count Celebration on Feb. 13. Enjoy informative displays on winter birds, feeders and lots of family activities. Drop in anytime from 10 am to 4 pm at the Cook-Fuller Center and take part in the fun. Admission is free.

On Feb. 13 at 7 pm, take a stroll beneath the light of the silvery moon on a naturalist-guided Night Hike. This hike is designed for all ages, but couples may find it an especially romantic addition to their Valentine’s Day weekend plans. Learn about moon phases and nocturnal animals and then take a short hike to view the constellations. Good hiking boots recommended. Fees for the Night Hike are $5 for Ridges members and $8 for the general public. Children and students under 18 hike free.

Work up an appetite with a snowshoe hike through the woods and follow it up with a delicious box lunch at the Box Lunch Snowshoe Hike on Feb. 17 at 11:30 am. Luncheon choices include gourmet sandwiches with sliced turkey or roast beef or a wrap made with seasonal fresh vegetables and hummus. Snowshoes are available for a $5 rental fee. If there is insufficient snow cover, the hike will be done without snowshoes. Fees are $15 for Ridges members and $18 for the general public and include the box lunch selection from Top Shelf Café & Gourmet. Call 920.839.2802 with your lunch selection no later than 4 pm on Feb. 16.

All programs meet at The Ridges Cook-Fuller Center, 8166 Hwy 57 (Hwy 57 & Ridges Road) in Baileys Harbor. For more information, visit RidgesSanctuary.org or call 920.839.2802.
