Vinni and Taylor Chomeau work on assembling their bluebird box during a program at the Ridges.
On March 19 at 10 am, The Ridges of Baileys Harbor will sponsor a program entitled “Building for Bluebirds” at the Ridges’ Marshall Cabin. The program is designed for families, but all ages are welcome. The cost is $15 per family.
During the workshop, Ridges Naturalist Karen Newbern will share natural history and habitat needs of the Eastern Bluebird. She will also discuss the importance of monitoring and recording use of nest boxes. Each family participating will be able to build a bluebird nest box to take home. All materials will be supplied, though families are welcome to bring their own hammer. Pre-registration is requested by calling the Door County YMCA at 920.868.3660 or The Ridges at 920.839.2802.
Building for Bluebirds is one in a series of programs called “No Family Left Inside,” offered by the Door County YMCA, the McArdle Library, and The Ridges. Upcoming programs include “Signs of Spring” on April 16 and a “Frog Walk” on May 13.
All programs are held at The Ridges Sanctuary, located at 8288 Hwy Q, just north of Baileys Harbor. For more information call 920.839.2802 or visit http://www.RidgesSanctuary.org.
