The Ridges Sanctuary Earns Travel Green Wisconsin Certification

The Ridges Sanctuary recently received Travel Green Wisconsin certification, joining the ranks of over 345 businesses and organizations. The Travel Green Wisconsin program was initiated by the Wisconsin Department of Tourism in 2006 to promote smart, environmentally friendly business practices. The program is the first state-sponsored sustainable travel green certification program in the nation and has become a model for sustainable travel efforts both nationally and internationally.

Certification requires a business earn a minimum of 35 points in categories including waste reduction, reuse and recycling; energy efficiency, water conservation and wastewater management; air quality; wildlife and landscape; transportation; purchasing and local community benefits.
