The Ridges Sanctuary Offers Outdoor Adventure Opportunities

The Ridges continues its series of Discovery Bird Walks on July 7, 6:30 – 8:30 am. Bird Walks are also scheduled for July 14, 21, and 28. Enthusiasts of all ages, abilities and interests can explore birding hot spots in the Baileys Harbor area. Walkers leave from the Marshall cabin at The Ridges. Discovery Bird Walks are free to Ridges members and $5 for the general public.

Geocaching is a perfect way for the whole family to explore the outdoors together. On July 2 from 2 – 3:30 pm, parents and children can take part in this outdoor adventure that combines treasure hunting, modern technology and a hike in the woods as part of The Ridges Sanctuary’s No Family Left Inside series. Participants should bring their own GPS receivers, if possible, but some units are available for use during the workshop. Pre-registration is required. To register, call The Ridges at 920.839.2802 or the YMCA at 920.868.3660. The fee is $15 per family for Ridges members, $20 per family for the general public.

July day camps are still open at The Ridges. Children entering grades 1 and 2 are eligible for Foxes, for July 3, 10, 17 and 24. Children in grades 3 – 6 can still register for Explorers, held on July 12, 19 and 25.

Costs of the sessions are $20 for Ridges members and $25 for the general public. Both sessions are held from 9 am – noon.
