For the second straight year, The Ridges Sanctuary was the winner in the annual grape stomp competition during Carlsville Day on July 26.

The event, held at Door Peninsula Winery, was a way for organizations to raise money for a cause, and have a little fun at the same time. The Ridges received a $250 donation after Kate LeRoy, visitor services manager for The Ridges, stomped out 1,880 milliliters of juice in two minutes. “It feels very squishy and slippery, but it also feels great because it’s a fantastic day to be out supporting all of our great organizations,” LeRoy said after the competition.

Sara McKillop earned $100 for United Way Door County by finishing in second place with 1,740 milliliters of juice.

Sarah Ewaskowitz finished in third place with 1,280 milliliters for the Door County Humane Society and the Door County All-Stars were fourth with 1,080 milliliters of juice. Each organization received $50. For a complete recap of the charity grape stomp, search “Carlsville Day Grape Stomp” on youtube.com.
