“The Wonder Bread Years” Presented as part of MDCMC’ s Celebrate Community Event

Ministry Door County Medical Center’s annual “Celebrate Community” show will offer another free program to the public on Oct. 27 at 7 pm at the Door Community Auditorium.

Former Seinfeld writer and Tonight Show regular, Pat Hazell has found a unique way to communicate to the ever-growing Baby Boomer theatergoer. In a salute to Pop Culture Americana, writer/director Hazell highlights the touchstones of the American family upbringing in his play, The Wonder Bread Years.

A salute to pure escapism and the Baby Boomer Generation, The Wonder Bread Years is akin to opening a time capsule packed with the most common youth-filled joys of childhood, such as: Hula Hoop contests, lawn darts, Kool-Aid, Big Wheels, Eskimo Pies, Clackers, Tuffskin Jeans, and Barbie Dolls.

The Wonder Bread Years, described as “pure un-pasteurized nostalgia” by The LA Times, aired on PBS as a one-hour special, where Hazell was referred to as “America’s foremost Pop Culture anthropologist.”

The Wonder Bread Years is a fabulous and fun show that lets the older generation savor the past with a hilarious walk down memory lane and will enlighten the younger generation with a look at what the world looked like when their parents were young,” said Terry Lundahl, program coordinator for “Celebrate Community.”

This is a free show; tickets are not required. Showtime is 7 pm, doors open at 6 pm. The opening guest artist is Dorothy Scott and the MDCMC Children’s Choir.
