Third Annual Fish Boil Festival Date Set

The third Annual Washington Island Fish Boil Festival is set for Feb. 4 at FitzGerald’s in Berwyn, Ill. Local Washington Island musician Julian Hagen and commercial fisherman Ken Koyen are heading south again to host another fun-filled evening at FitzGerald’s.

Koyen will bring his famous fish boil to this nationally known music venue. Besides the tasty whitefish with trimmings, he will offer a brat dinner with brats from the Mann’s Store on the island, and Kate Kaniff from Fiddler’s Green Irish Pub will offer two tasty vegan choices.

Doors open at 3:30 pm with the first boil-over taking place in the FitzGerald’s parking lot at 4:30 pm. Live music will start in the Club at 4:45 pm and continue throughout the evening. A variety of musicians will perform, all with island connections, such as Paris Schultz. Folk, country and light rock will be heard throughout dinner, giving way to music to dance to and/or sing along with, performed by the Island All-Star Band at 7:30 pm.

A Fiddlers Green-style acoustic jam session will start at 7 pm off the SideBar in the Party Room. Musicians and singers are encouraged to join in.

FitzGeralds is located at 6615 Roosevelt Road, Berwyn. Admission to the music, prizes and fun is $15; add an additional $17 for fish boil. Reservations must be made in advance at fitzgeraldsnightclub.com.
