Third Avenue Playhouse Announces Its 2019 Season

Third Avenue Playhouse announces its 2019 studio theater season, which starts off with Shooting Star by Steven Dietz, April 4-20. Snowed in overnight at a middle-America airport, college lovers Elena Carson and Reed McAllister have an unexpected and life-altering reunion. The show features Doug Mancheski and Amy Ensign. A special pay-what-you-can preview will be held on April 3.

The Absolute Brightness Of Leonard Pelkey by James Lecesne plays May 16-June 9, with a pay-what-you-can preview on May 15. A detective unravels the story of Leonard Pelkey, a tenaciously optimistic and flamboyant 14-year-old boy who goes missing. It features Alan Kopischke.

The Dig by Marie Kohler will be performed June 27-July 20, with a pay-what-you-can preview on June 26. At 14, Mattie said goodbye to her older brother Jamie when he flew across the globe for a career in archaeology. On a dig in Lebanon in 1968, he had a psychological breakdown, transforming him forever. Kohler will be in residence for the production.

La-La-Lucille with music by George Gershwin, book by Fred Jackson, lyrics by Arthur Jackson & B.G. Sylva, additional lyrics by Lou Paley, Irving Caesar, and Arthur Francis, will be performed July 25-Sept. 1, with a pay-what-you-can preview July 24. It is a riotous, fast-paced farce about a married couple who plot to become temporarily divorced in order to claim an inheritance.

Will Durst returns Sept. 4-7 with BoomeRaging: From LSD to OMG. It is a tribute to the history, growth, joys, achievements and looming terrors of the Baby Boom Generation in today’s youth-obsessed society.

Tomfoolery by Cameron Mackintosh and Robin Ray, with music and lyrics by Tom Lehrer, will be performed Sept. 12-Oct. 20, with a pay-what-you-can preview on Sept. 11. The show is a revue of the witty, wicked and thoroughly twisted world of famed satirical songwriter Tom Lehrer.

The annual holiday show is still to be announced. Season tickets go on sale Dec. 5, with performance package options. They can be purchased in person or on the phone. New this year are specially priced student season tickets. For more information call 920.743.1760.
